A new independent care provider in Southport is quickly growing its reputation for the quality of personal care it offers with its attention to detail making a big difference to its clients.

Apollo Care Southport is owned by cousins Hannah White and Debbie Dickson and was established after the huge success of Apollo Care West Wirral which Hannah has owned since 2012.

Mum-of-five Debbie lives in the Sefton area and working in her local area made perfect sense.

Debbie and Hannah said: “We decided to purchase Apollo Care Southport after spending the last two and a half years working very well together at Apollo Care West Wirral and we have over 30 years’ experience in care between us and we focus in reassuring our clients that we care, we listen with empathy, and we provide the care and support which clients want to receive via our Better Life Care Packages.”

Debbie and Hannah are committed to providing outstanding holistic care to adults who have care or support needs within their own homes.

Debbie manages the day to day running and recruits her staff by doing the ‘mum or nan test’, ensuring that they have the skills, the training and the empathy they need to provide the top quality support to clients which helps them to stay in their own homes for as long as is safely possible, which is what they deserve.

They said: “We are confident in our care staff’s ability and know that they will go above and beyond in all situations that they may come across either good or bad.

“We work well with our clients’ families and give that reassurance and support to let them become the son or daughter again instead of the carer and our feedback from our current clients’ families reflects this.”

Their expertise means that they can provide care which keeps clients safe by empowering them to remain as independent as possible by receiving the correct level of support they want and by not taking over.

This promotes their wellbeing and inspires them to remain independent. Apollo Care provides continuity of care, working with clients and their families to set up a care plan which fully reflects their choices, needs and wishes by showing them that we care.

Debbie said: “Hannah and I work really well together. In Wirral, Apollo Care has become very well known because that is where we started, and where we have built up our reputation. We are now enjoying doing the same here in Southport.

“One of the great things about Apollo Care is that we are local. There are some big, national companies in the sector, which don’t have their roots in the local community in the same way that we do.

“In Wirral we have a huge waiting list. Once we get our name out, our reputation is really strong.

“We set up in Southport just before Christmas. In February, after placing an advert in the Southport and Formby Champion, we welcomed our first client.

“One lady who has come to us since had spent 10 years with a different care provider, but wasn’t happy with the care she was receiving.

“She has told us that our approach is totally different, more tailored to her needs.

“We make absolutely sure that stuff gets done. That can be down to things that appear small but can make a big difference to a client, such as just nipping out to the shop for them if they need it, or whizzing the vacuum cleaner around.

“A lot of other care companies, especially the larger ones, say they are not allowed to do things like that, because of the list of conditions and restrictions they put in place.

“Another thing that sets us apart is that we also provide call times.

“If we say we will be with someone at 10am – then we will be there at 10am.

“Some clients with other care providers have told us that they have no idea what time of day they are going to turn up – they just give them a day, they won’t give them an idea of a time.

“We want to be able to offer them that personal, professional service.”

Debbie says she previously worked in a call centre for a well-known brand while she raised her five children, before moving into the care sector.

It is a profession she has a real passion for.

Debbie said: “I came into care when my brother was diagnosed with brain cancer and then sadly passed away, in 2014.

“At the time, I left my job and cared for him until he died.”

She now works for a company which shares her ethos for providing top quality care to local families.

Apollo Care offers service users a package of care to suit their individual needs and all of its care staff are hired directly.

This enables the company to offer continuity and suitability to match each service user’s personality and care needs.

Care staff vow to provide excellent standards of care, arrive on time, and follow an individual care plan that will be regularly reviewed to provide the best ongoing support to suit the service user.
