Silcock Leisure Group and the Silcock family have presented a £1,000 cheque to support the Ainsdale Show in Southport.
Herbert Silcock and Serena Silcock-Prince met Ainsdale community champion Brenda Porter to present the donation to Ainsdale community champion Brenda Porter at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant.
This is the second year in a row that Silcock Leisure Group has been a sponsor of the Ainsdale Show, one of the longest-running community events of its kind in the country.
It has been entertaining generations of families ever since it was first held in 1922.
The 2024 Ainsdale Summer Show will take place on 6th-7th July 2024, with free entry for all.
Saturday 6th July will see the traditional Ainsdale Summer Show held, with arena attractions, a large fairground, pet show, live music and more.
Sunday 7th July will bring Music On the Green with Mikle Byrne and the Sunrockers (50s and 60s), and a Robbie Williams tribute with Matt Byrne.
The event, which will be held on Ainsdale Village Green, is organised by Ainsdale Horticultural Society.
Some attractions will be held in Ainsdale Methodist Church hall and grounds.
For the second consecutive time, in a change from previous years, admission will be free.
Silcock Leisure Group is delighted to be supporting local artists at this year’s events.
The Group has begun hosting launch events for local artists and authors at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant in recent months, and is keen to support talented local people.
As part of their sponsorship with the Ainsdale Show, they have been given a space to promote their business, which they have given to three Southport artists and authors: Ruth Spillane, author of the new Southport Illustrated book last year, Melanie June and Kayla Woodfine.
Silcock Leisure Group Operations Manager Serena Silcock-Prince said: “We were delighted to meet Brenda Porter, who does so much to champion Ainsdale and the Ainsdale Show, and to present our sponsorship for this year’s event.
“We are always keen to do what we can to support the local community.
“This year people can visit our stall at the Ainsdale Show where they will be able to see the work being done by some very talented local artists and authors; Ruth Spillane, Melanie June and Kayla Woodfine.
“We hope people will come and visit their stand, and have a look at what they have to offer.”
