Neil Fogg from the Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton City Academy has organised a charity walk this Sunday (6th July 2025), to support older people living in Liverpool and Sefton.
The walk will set off from Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant on the Promenade in Southport (near Silcock’s Funland) with a 9am meet for a 9.30am and will end at the Liver Buildings in Liverpool city centre.

The City academy is a local community-driven initiative led by experienced local adults dedicated to giving back.
They hold boot camps with local schools to support mental health and well-being and want to give back to older adults in the community.
Meeting older people through his role as a police officer, Neil said:
“Seeing how they crave connection and are so happy just to ‘have a chat’ made me want to do more.
“We often get called out to a job to discover the main reason for the call was loneliness – this was my reason for supporting Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton.
“Many charities face difficulties funding their services and as a community we can all help to keep them going by taking on a challenge, donating or offering time to volunteer.
“By getting involved in this walk, the money raised will help fund weekly activities to support the mental and physical health of older adults in Liverpool and Sefton. And, you don’t have to do the entire route of 20 miles – join us part way, challenge yourself to walk a couple of kilometres, or make a small donation.”
Neil knows how impactful keeping active is through his work with schools and has witnessed the effects of loneliness and isolation. Taking part in the walk will be a great achievement and a lot of fun.
Join the walk and help make a difference.
