Employees from Access Point in Southport are celebrating the firm’s 25th birthday by walking from Wigan to Southport to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice.
They have named their challenge their ‘Back to the Future Trek’.
The 20-mile challenge will end with a celebratory barbecue at the iconic Access Point offices, inside the former Southport / North Sefton Magistrates’ Court building on Albert Road in Southport.
A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said: “We are delighted that Access Point in Southport has chosen Queenscourt as their Nominated Local Charity and it is great to see that they are already busy planning their first fundraising challenge, ‘Back to the Future Trek’.”
This year Access Point is 25 years old, and they wanted to do something to celebrate this milestone year whilst also raising money for a local charity.
The Back to the Future walk starts in Wigan, which is where Access Point first opened in 1997 before moving to Southport in 1999.
The 20-mile route then takes the trekkers back to Southport along the canal with a finish back at their offices for further celebrations.
Jeanette Morgan, Managing Director, who is also celebrating her 25-year service anniversary with Access Point this year said: “Since Access Point was born, we have always tried to be innovative with our fundraising ideas. Walking Back to the Future this year to raise funds for Queenscourt Hospice is a great way to join as a team in an activity that we can all participate in.
“I’m looking forward to taking in the incredible views of the canal path with great company.
“Over the years we have acknowledged lots of worthy local charities, and I am thrilled that our employees have chosen Queenscourt this year as our local charity.
“We are all looking forward to this challenge, and knowing there is a Summer BBQ event waiting for us on our rooftop at the Courthouse to end the event, will definitely spur us all on.”
