The Mad Dog 10K run in Southport is celebrating a milestone year, with a record-breaking number of pups entered for the ever-popular Pups Race, taking place on Sunday 8th February 2026.
With close to 200 pups signed up, this year’s entries have exceeded all previous records, highlighting the growing popularity of the event and its unique appeal to runners of all ages – including the youngest members of the Mad Dog pack.
The Pups Race has become a firm favourite on the Mad Dog calendar, offering a fun, inclusive and energetic introduction to race day for children and families.
The Mad Dog 10K has been voted the best 10K in the country on numerous occasions, a reflection of its outstanding organisation, atmosphere and runner experience.
The event is all about fun, community and accessibility, welcoming all types of runners – from first-timers to seasoned racers.

Featuring a flat, fast course, the race is ideal for personal bests or simply enjoying the experience.
Fancy dress is actively encouraged, adding to the festival atmosphere that has become synonymous with Mad Dog.
This year’s event theme is “Wagiator”, promising plenty of tail-wagging creativity, bold costumes and playful competition across the course.
With close to 200 pups on the start line, a buzzing atmosphere and a multi-award-winning reputation, the 2026 Mad Dog 10K is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet.
