Mark Sloan has been appointed as the new General Manager at The Bold in Southport as he looks forward to an exciting year ahead.
The Bold won the Southport Hotel Of The Year title at last year’s Your Southport Stars Awards and is eager to build on its success and its growing reputation.
Mark previously served as Assistant General Manager to Kelsie Buck, who has left the business for a new role at LK Gymnastics.
Mark said: “I am honoured to become the new General Manager at The Bold at such a thrilling time both for the hotel, and for Southport!
“There are so many positive things to build on. It was a superb accolade winning Southport Hotel Of The Year in 2025.
“The renovation at The Bold at the start last year has made this a superb place for people to come and spend time in, whether they’re staying in our rooms or calling in to enjoy a meal.
“We have just come through an exceptionally busy Christmas and new year – we’re already planning what we’re doing for Christmas 2026! We have already taken bookings.
“We have just launched a brand new menu for the year ahead, with lots of choices for people of all ages with lots of delicious good, hearty, wholesome food. Every dish is freshly cooked and made using locally sourced ingredients where possible.
“It complements our famous carvery, which has a well-deserved reputation as being the best in Southport.
“It’s been superb working with our Head Chef Lee Whittaker-Locke and other members of our talented team in these past few weeks to launch the new menu and prepare for the year ahead.
“They include our reception team, our events team, our chefs, our cleaners, our housekeepers, all of them, from top to bottom. There is a huge amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
“I am grateful to Kelsie for everything she achieved during her time here and for all her support, and I wish her all the very best for the future at LK Gymnastics.
“I have 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry to draw on, 25 years of those in managerial roles, working at a variety of hotels, restaurants, pubs, casinos and other venues in the North West. I have taken influences from all of those places.
“I am very big on team training and staff welfare and ensuring that all our customers know that they can expect a top class experience in all areas. It’s important that everyone in our team is on the same page.
“I have been so lucky to have been able to inherit such a fantastic team of people.
“Thanks to our events team, we have a brilliant line-up of functions and events coming up in 2026 with more to look out for in the months ahead. We host all types of functions including Christenings, baby showers, birthday celebrations, Christmas events and more.

With lots happening at The Bold, there is also lots to look forward to in Southport itself.
There are four major new events taking place this year including Lightport (14th-16th February 2026); Cristal Palace (3rd-4th April 2026); Big Top Festival (2nd-3rd May 2026); and Books Alive! (24th-31st October 2026).
They add to the existing big events including Southport Flower Show, Southport Air Show, Southport Comedy Festival and others.
The Open golf championship at Royal Birkdale golf club in Southport will bring visitors from around the world to Southport this July.
Mark said: “Southport is going to be vibrant and bustling this year!
“There are so many special events for local residents to enjoy, and so many reasons for people from all over to come and visit.
