October is a busy time in Southport with lots of fantastic events to enjoy! 

From Southport Comedy Festival to Oktoberfest to Halloween here are 10 of the ones you won’t want to miss: 

1 – Southport Comedy Festival

Southport Comedy Festival takes place Friday 3rd October to Sunday 19th October 2025 for 17 fun-filled days of laughter.

The star studded line-up includes literary phenomenon and ‘Godfather of Punk Poetry’ Dr John Cooper Clarke, high-energy festival favourite Jason Byrne, universally acclaimed observational joke-master Jimeoin, American comedy legend Rich Hall, multi-award-winning comedian and broadcaster Mark Steel, internationally acclaimed Irish star Ardal O’Hanlon of Father Ted fame, Persian powerhouse and star of the silver screen Omid Djalili, comedian and Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland, Irish Comedy Queen Deirdre O’Kane, Host of Smash Hit Podcast ‘Have a Word’ Dan Nightingale, comedy circuit favourite Jenny Collier, star of Britain’s Got talent Jonny Awsum, hilariously outrageous clairvoyant from Phoenix Nights Clinton Baptiste  and UK comedy icon Mick Miller, the beloved “bald man with the long hair” and a cherished entertainer for over 50 years.

2 – Oktoberfest

Experience the ultimate beer festival at Victoria Park in Southport. 

Get ready to raise your steins and toast to the most anticipated event of the year!

​With German oompah bands, performers, DJs, a great selection of German beers served in two pint steins and delicious Bavarian food.

Southport Oktoberfest 2025 will take place from Friday, 24th October 2025 to Saturday, 25th October 2025, and it’s shaping up to be bigger, better, and more boisterous than ever. 

  • Friday Evening (24th October 2025): 6pm – 10pm
  • Saturday (25th October 2025): Two sessions—1pm to 5pm and 6pm to 10pm 

What’s On

  • Live Oompah Music & DJs: Enjoy The Amazing Bavarian-Stompers — and by day 2025, the lineup even includes DJs mixing in a modern twist to the traditional tunes.
    Authentic German Fare: Think bratwursts, currywursts, pretzels, and more—all courtesy of local favourite Chris Stead from the Ready Steady Chef Company and Southport Meat Company.
    Drink Variety: Two-pint steins of German beer, plus alternatives like wine, prosecco, cider, spirits, mixers, and soft drinks—catering to everyone’s taste.

This isn’t just an event—it’s a full-blown festival experience wrapped in Bavarian cheer. 3 – Moving Monsters Trail

Families can explore Southport this Halloween in search of mischievous 3D monsters and characters.

Two free augmented reality (AR) trails will make for a fantastic day out in Southport during the spooky season, packed with selfie opportunities, surprises, and the chance to win exciting prizes.

Using a special trail map, visitors can uncover hidden locations throughout the town where secret QR codes are waiting to be found.  Scan the code and watch as 3D animated characters come to life!

Colourful, dancing beasties will appear around the town centre as part of the Moving Monsters Trail which is organised by Southport BID.

4 – Fear By The Pier

Families are invited to enjoy the brand new ‘Fear By The Pier’ in Southport this autumn!

This Halloween themed event will take place at family attractions at Kings Gardens in Southport

between 11am and 5pm on:

Friday, 31st October 2025

Saturday, 1st November 2025

Sunday, 2nd November 2025

Children will be able to meet at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant on the Promenade, where they

will be able to enjoy a Spooky Kids Meal and grab a ghoulish Goody Bag.

They can take a ride on the famous Silcock’s Carousel, and play 18 holes of crazy golf at

Masters Putting Green.

Tickets are £10 each.

5 – Shrek 

BOS Musical Theatre Company are proud to present “Shrek – The Musical” from 18th to 25th October 2025.

This is your chance to join the hilariously heartwarming tale of an ogre, a donkey, a princess, and a host of lovable misfits in a production filled with fun, laughter, and incredible music.

There will be a ‘Meet and Greet’ with the cast after each Matinee.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film,Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

His journey to find his voice, aided by the unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue, forms the heart of this inspiring drama.

SONG presents the pop-culture phenomenon about the legendary New York High School of the Performing Arts – FAME The Musical. 

An unmistakable title from the unforgettable film and television franchise, Fame The Musical inspired generations to fight for fame and light up the sky like a flame! Conceived and developed by David De Silva – now known affectionately to the planet as “Father Fame,” this high-octane musical features t

he Academy Award-winning title song and a host of other catchy pop numbers.

The show follows the final class of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts from their admission in 1980 to their graduation in 1984. All of the struggles, fears, and triumphs – from prejudice to substance abuse are depicted with razor-sharp focus as the young artists navigate the worlds of music, drama, and dance.
