Families are invited to enjoy the Southport Lifeboat Open day this Saturday (27th September 2025).
The event takes place between 10am and 4pm at Southport Lifeboat Station, Marine Drive, PR8 1SD Southport, United Kingdom, all welcome.
A Southport Lifeboat spokesperson said: “Join us for a behind the scenes look at the Southport Lifeboat Station.
“Take a guided tour of the station.
“Get up close with the lifesaving equipment used by our crew.
“Enjoy stalls, refreshments, and a raffle with great prizes.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the work we do and support your local independent lifeboat crew. It’s a family-friendly event with something for everyone.
“Please note: There is no on-site parking or vehicle access to the station. Nearby public car parks are available.
“We look forward to welcoming you!”
It costs £60,000 to keep Southport Lifeboat functioning all year round.
That is no mean task during ordinary times, let alone the extraordinary times we currently find ourselves in.
Southport Lifeboat is funded entirely through public donations, and is independent of the RNLI, which abandoned Southport many years ago.
