Talented young people from the School of Medicine at KGV Sixth Form College in Southport have enjoyed an inspirational week of learning at the BioGrad Education in Liverpool.
It gave them a unique opportunity to develop their skills, their knowledge and their confidence in a professional setting at one of the leading science and education companies in the UK.
A KGV Sixth Form College spokesperson said:
“What an incredible week for our School of Medicine students at BioGrad Education in Liverpool!
“Students spent the week touring their amazing facilities, using industry-standard equipment, and building their CV and confidence in a medical environment.
“The week started with an emergency medical course delivered by KGV alumni and industry professional Dr Jamie Paweleck, which focused on developing essential practical skills and learning the underpinning theory, all crucial for their upcoming university applications in medicine or dentistry.
“Dr Paweleck was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and we can’t thank him enough for spending time with us!
“Students also got hands-on with venesection (taking blood) and inserting cannulas, practiced cardiac and respiratory examinations, and even learned how to use an ultrasound to examine the abdomen.
“The week wrapped up with mastering suturing wounds, fracture diagnosis, and casting broken bones – skills vital for future OSCEs!
“It has been such an enriching experience for our students and we can’t thank BioGrad enough for their time and hospitality. We’ve loved every second!”
