People could soon be looking forward to enjoying being pampered in a new beauty salon while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine at a new beauty salon opening in Southport town centre.

A planning application has been submitted to Sefton Council to convert a building for use as a beauty salon at 2 Wright Street, on the corner of Wright Street and Mornington Road, opposite Fletchers Solicitors and Southport College.

It would see a growth from one full-time employee to four full-time employees and five part-time employees.

The proposed opening hours would be 9am-8pm Monday to Friday; 9am-6pm Saturdays; and 10am-6pm Sundays and bank holidays.

The application has been submitted by Meggie Salon Ltd.

It was drawn up by Southport firm Andrew Cunningham Building Design.

In the application they said: said: “The Applicant has run a successful beauty salon in Union Street for some years and is now expanding their business with a larger salon on Wright Street.

“The existing building is being converted and will provide new treatment rooms as well as a waiting area which will also include a bar for customer use only.

“The intention is that customers will be given a drink such as a glass of sparkling wine while waiting for their appointment as part of their treatment package.

“The bar is not a drinking establishment and members of the public will not be able to purchase alcohol unless it is part of a treatment package.

“Whilst the address is for Wright Street, the building actually faces onto Mornington Road. The site is located in a good area for the proposed use. The site includes good off street parking provision as well as excellent proximity to town centre amenities.

“Existing car parking provision will be retained and exceeds the requirements of the business. The premises are well positioned for customers using public transport.

“The proposal will enable an established and successful local business to continue to grow to the benefit of the local community as well as the town’s economic development.

“By serving drinks to customers waiting for treatment the business will be able to meet rising customer expectations.”
