Southport and Ormskirk hospitals are inviting people to an annual memorial service this weekend to allow those grieving the loss of a loved one time to remember and reflect.

The service will be held at Cornerstone Methodist Church, formerly Marshside Road Methodist Church, in Southport at 10.30am this Sunday (3rd November 2024).

It will be led by the Rev Martin Abrams and the Rev Jan Fraser from the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Service at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals.

Also taking part will be Dr Clare Finnegan, Consultant in Palliative Medicine and local singer Wendy Chalke. Members of the Trust‘s leadership team will also be present.

During the service, families will have the opportunity to remember their loved ones in different ways including lighting a candle and placing a heart on a remembrance tree.

A recording of the service will also be available on the Trust’s YouTube channel here for those unable to attend.

Martin Abrams said: “Our annual memorial service offers those grieving the loss of a loved one the time to come together to share a common empathy that can be so helpful when grieving.

“I do hope that both the service and the recorded event will provide support, comfort, and help to those remembering their loved ones.“

Following the service there will be time for reflection, conversation, and refreshments.
