Would you like to help improve Hesketh Park in Southport?

Volunteers are being sought to give a fresh new look to the park’s sensory garden.

Hesketh Park is one of the oldest in the North West, having been created by the Southport Commissioners through the Second Southport Improvement Act of 1865.

Edward Kemp laid out the park which is of a near oval shape, possibly to the design of Joseph Paxton for whom Kemp had worked at Birkenhead Park in Liverpool.

Rachel Brocklebank said: “If anyone fancies a bit of gardening and helping to keep our community looking lovely then please do come and join our little volunteering group in Hesketh Park sensory garden.

“We have people who drop in for a one-off, others that drop in as and when they can, all welcome.

“It’s also a great way to meet new people, get some fresh air, and just get out of the house for an hour or so!

“If you fancy joining us drop me an email at: [email protected]

“All you need is yourself and some gardening gloves

“If you know any local companies that might have a few employees looking to use some volunteering days in the local community then send them our way too
