Diners will feel like they’re Living In America when they step into Southport’s newest eatery.

Crave Pizza opened its doors inside the former Remedy unit in the Town Hall Gardens on Lord Street on Saturday (8th July 2023).

The stylish venue sells freshly-made pizza by the slice, in a variety of delicious flavours including pepperoni, meat feast, margherita, vegetarian, ham and pineapple and more.

Many are New York style pizzas, inspired by the owners’ regular visits to the Big Apple; as well as Detroit and Chicago inspired deep pan pizzas.

There are styles and flavours you won’t see in any other pizza joint in town.

It’s the perfect place for anyone working in town to call in to grab their lunch; for families where everyone can choose the slices they like; friends on their way to a night out; teenagers looking for somewhere fun, friendly and affordable.

There is seating inside as well as tables and booths outside where diners can enjoy the sunshine with a slice or two of pizza.

People can also order pizza slices and take them away.

Crave Pizza is owned by local couple Matt Gregson and Rosie Blackburn, who already operate the successful Pavilion eatery in the Town Hall Gardens.

Matt said: “When the opportunity came up to take on this building we were really keen, and were excited about being able to bring something new and very different to Southport.

“We have spent lots of time in New York, and they have lots of places there where people can drop in and pick up a pizza slice.

“There is nowhere else like this in Southport so we thought there was a real gap in the market.

“It’s a really good place for all the people who work or who live in the town centre who want to come in and find something freshly cooked, hot, tasty, quick and affordable to eat.

“This is such a beautiful building and we didn’t want to see it empty. We think it is going to complement what we already offer at the Pavilion really well.

“And everyone loves pizza!

“Everyone we have spoken to says they think it is an absolutely cracking idea!

“But the proof is in the pizza – we’d love people to come in and give us a try and let us know what they think.

“The reaction we have had from people so far has been really positive.

“We love opening another new business on Lord Street too, our second here.

“There is so much happening along this street. Mikhail Hotel and Leisure are investing heavily in the Northern Quarter on Lord Street, exciting plans have just been announced for The Garrick Theatre building, and there is lots more happening too.

“We feel really passionate about Lord Street, it is a great place to be.”

Rosie Blackburn said: “We are offering 18-inch New York style pizzas by the slice, in a variety of flavours. We are producing Detroit style and Chicago style deep pan pizzas too.

“It is something really new for the town.

“We would love to say to people to come down and give us a try!”

This is the second local business for the couple, who opened Pavilion four years ago.

Rosie said: “We opened Pavilion in 2019, not long before the start of the Covid pandemic.

“We have just celebrated our first full 12 months of being open there.

“Things are going really well now, and we hope they are going to enjoy Crave Pizza too.”
