Main Stand Southport FC named in honour of Club President Sam Shrouder

The main stand at Southport Football Club has been named after long-time supporter Sam Shrouder.

The stand will be sponsored by Anthony James Estate Agents for the rest of this season and next season.

Dave Barron, owner of Barron Financial Services in Southport, was also praised for his efforts in encouraging 18 local businesses to provide financial backing to the club.

A Southport FC spokesperson said: “On Saturday, we quite rightly honoured our Club President Sam Shrouder by naming our main stand after him.

“Sam has been a very good friend and supporter of all the good things that we have been trying to do to drive the football club forward. His wise counsel and positive advice is a true inspiration to us all and it was great to see Sam with us again, together with his wife Linda.

“We were also delighted to have the first sponsor of the Sam Shrouder Main Stand with.

It gives us great pleasure to not only say congratulations to Anthony James Estate Agents, whose name was pulled out of the hat at the recent Blyth Spartans home game to win the naming rights until the end of next season, but also to say a huge and warm welcome back to Haig Avenue to Mark and Lyn Cunningham and their AJ colleagues who were with us in the hospitality lounge.

“The main stand naming rights initiative was conceived and organised superbly by our good friend and long-standing supporter Dave Barron and the way in which Dave was able to cajole and entice 18 local businesses to provide financial support totalling £20,000 to the Club so quickly demonstrates everything that is good about Southport Football Club and its support from the local business community.

“It was a real team effort and whereas some of these businesses were already long-standing sponsors, nearly half are new to the Club. The Club is very grateful to not only Dave and his business Barron Financial Solutions, but to:
