A Southport FC fan is inviting people to support his forthcoming charity head and beard shave, which he is doing during a Home game to raise money for a veterans charity.
Steve Roberts is taking on his challenge following the death of his father, ex Royal Signals veteran Dave Roberts.
People are being asked to visit Steve’s Just Giving page HERE to donate.
Steve said: “I am raising money for the Royal Signals Fund. They help many veterans and their families in their hour of need.
“I am doing a beard and head shave at Southport FC on the 24 September on behalf of my father Dave Roberts (ex Royal Signals) who sadly passed away aged 72 on 11th October 2020.
“I would like to repay my thanks to the Royal Signals Fund for their assistance with the funeral.
“I am just giving back to a worthy cause for those in need.”
The kind-hearted Sandgrounder has raised money for charity before at Haig Avenue.
A Southport FC spokesperson said: “Supporters may remember back in 2009 that Steve Roberts was subjected to having his head shaved on the pitch, all in a good cause.
“Well, being a glutton for punishment he is doing it all again, beard included this time….. and as you can see from the photos he has sent us below, it is about time too!
“The shave will take place during half time of the Southport v Leamington game on Saturday September 24th in The Fan Zone.
“Don’t worry, we will ensure everyone gets to see the before… and after!”
Is anybody keen to do the shave? Please get in touch with Rob Urwin rob@southportfc.net or call 07790041514 to make a bid!
