The return of Southport Air Show has been hailed a soaring success with fascinating displays, awesome aerial stunts and much more.

Thousands of aviation enthusiasts and families visited the resort over Saturday and Sunday (July 9th and 10th) with displays from the Red Arrows, RAF Typhoon, a P-52 Mustang, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight  and much more.

Another highlight was the first appearance of a Spitfire which flew from RAF Woodvale near Southport during World War II.

The Supermarine Spitfire BM597 saw wartime service with both 315 & 317 Polish Squadrons operating from RAF Woodvale.

The event also hosted the first UK appearance by the world famous South Korean Air Force in more than ten years.

The Asian nation’s Black Eagles aerobatic flight team jetted in with their eight KAI T-50B jets, specially-painted in their trademark black, white, and yellow for a series of jaw dropping and awe-inspiring aerial manoeuvres.

The busy weekend meant that business in the town centre was booming, with restaurant, shop and bar owners enjoying heavy footfall as part of the Southport Air Show.
