Fletchers Solicitors, one of the country’s leading consumer law firms, has been bought out by private equity investors.
Fletchers was established in Southport in 1987 by Rob Fletcher, who is also Chair of the Southport Town Deal board.
It is an award-winning law firm, with offices on Hoghton Street in Southport and in Manchester city centre, and currently employs 500 people.
Fletchers has been bought by an affiliate of Sun European Partners, LLP.
The acquisition was completed on the afternoon of 20th October 2021. Terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.
Sun European Partners, LLP, is a global private equity firm which focuses on defensible businesses in growing markets with tangible performance improvement opportunities.
This announcement comes off the back of a record year for Fletchers, with revenue increasing by 40% and profit before tax increasing 39%. This performance through a period of global adversity is testament to resilience of the company.

“There comes a time, however, when things have to move on and I feel that now is the right time for me to pass the baton on to the next generation.

Led by Corporate Partner Keith Melling, Napthens LLP provided corporate legal advice to Fletchers Solicitors’ management team on the transaction.
Fletchers Solicitors is one of the largest medical negligence and personal injury practices in the UK. It specialises in serious injury, medical negligence and motorbike accidents.
More recently it has expanded into data breach and diesel emission claims.
It is in the UK’s top 100 law firms.
