Drivers could soon be able to recharge their cars while they pick up a Bic Mac.
The McDonald’s Restaurant and drive through at Kew Retail Park on Scarisbrick New Road in Kew, Southport, is keen to secure the installation of two rapid electric vehicle charging stations and associated equipment within its car park.
A planning application has been submitted to Sefton Council on behalf of InstaVolt Ltd, which is based in Basingstoke in Hampshire.
Two existing parking spaces would become EV charging bays, along with associated equipment.
InstaVolt Ltd provides easy access to charging units that help drivers get back on the road quickly.
They said: “We pride ourselves on having the simplest and most transparent approach to electric vehicle charging in the UK.
“All our charging units are available for EV drivers to use on a pay-as-you-go, no subscription basis.
“There’s no connection charge; drivers simply tap their contactless credit or debit card and only pay for the electricity used.”

Headquartered in Hampshire, the InstaVolt Ltd senior management team bring many years of experience from the electrical engineering and energy services industries.
Backed by a £12m equity investment by private equity firm Zouk Capital, the company is on track to be the largest owner-operator of rapid DC charging stations in the UK .
Their services benefit electric vehicle drivers, the landowners that house the charging units and, ultimately, the UK’s environment by supporting use of less polluting electric vehicles.
