Welcome to August – and a busy weekend ahead! There is loads to enjoy this Saturday and Sunday, including the much-anticipated Charity Match at Southport Football Club to raise funds for the Southport families, the start of the nine-day Southport Arts Festival and more.
1 – Southport Arts Festival

Southport Arts Festival launches this weekend, with nine days packed with fun events for families.
There’s lots to enjoy at venues across town, including Southport Market, The Grand, Bijou Cinema, the Lord Street Bandstand, local bars and more.
This brand-new, community-led festival takes place from Saturday 2nd August to Sunday 10th August 2025.
The festival is led by Tony Wynne, Suzy Walker and Andrew Portersmith MBE, who have worked tirelessly to put together a diverse and inclusive This year’s festival is intended to be an annual event in the town’s calendar.

2 – Antiques Fair
Asbridge Promotions present an Antiques Fair in Victoria Park in Southport on Saturday 2nd August and Sunday 3rd August 2025, between 10am and 4pm each day.
There is an indoor marquee with outdoor spaces available, with 200 traders.
Admission is £3 adults, children free.

3 – Southport Disco Festival

SDF 7th edition is back at Adventure Coast Southport this Saturday (2nd August 2025).
Headlining the DISCO STAGE will be Glitterbox regular Young Pulse and Southport Weekenders Jimmy Allen, alongside Midnight Riots Jaegerossa, SDF founder and Hot Gorilla Records boss Mark Pickup, as well as Cliff Barclay, Sean Benton & Paul Hollinshead.
On the SMILE CLASSICS STAGE will be have 90s royalty Shades Of Rhythm doing a live show, as well as Cream and Hacienda legend Allister Whitehead, alongside Miss Moneypennys Lady Parker, Woz Rimmer, Dominic Morris, Seani Mac and Ali Cunningham on percussion.
All the stages are nestled amongst the rides once again, which added to all the fun last year as this venue truly is a very unique setting for a rave.

4 – The Shankly Conspiracy Book Signing

Acclaimed football writer John Keith is unveiling his first ever novel at the Waterstones bookshop in Southport town centre this weekend – and he will be there with a very special guest.
The former Daily Express football writer, an expert in covering Liverpool FC, Everton FC and football across Merseyside for many years, will be at Waterstones on Chapel Street from 1pm this Saturday (2nd August 2025) for a signing of ‘The Shankly Conspiracy’.
John, who lives in Southport, has written 33 books during his illustrious career, but this is his first novel.
It has been inspired by legendary Reds manager Bill Shankly, someone John knew extremely well.
Alongside John will be his close friend and Liverpool FC legend Ian Callaghan MBE.
Iam Callaghan holds the record for the most ever Liverpool FC appearances, playing 857 times for the Reds between 1960 and 1978, breaking into the first team just after the appointment of Bill Shankly as manager.
During his time there he won five League titles, two European Cups, two UEFA Cups, two FA Cups, plus more besides.
5 – Kids Fun Day at the Imperial

Call in for a Kids Fun Day @ the Imperial.
They have plenty in store for you, with Pebbles and Treasures providing free crafts for the little ones, and Phil with PM Reptiles making an appearance (£2 per person entry).
With many craft stalls, face painters, glitter tattoos and balloons, they have a bit of everything for everyone.
6 – Charity Match

Southport FC is proud to host a very special Charity Football Match at Haig Avenue on Sunday 3rd August 2025, in support of the 24 families directly affected by the Southport tragedy last summer.
Organised in partnership with Southport Hesketh Round Table, this is more than a football match — it’s a powerful day of remembrance, unity, and fundraising.
The Round Table has already raised nearly £185,000 through their official GoFundMe and continues to support the families affected.
Much like Soccer Aid, this event will feature a star-studded line-up of celebrities, ex-professional footballers, and local legends, all coming together for a meaningful cause. With live music, food and drink, family-friendly activities, and an electric atmosphere, it promises to be a memorable day for the whole community.
Kick-off is at 3pm.

7 – Southport Seaside 10k

Hundreds of runners will race along the seafront in the Southport Seaside 10k.
The RunThrough event, which is raising money for Queenscourt Hospice, will start at 9am this Sunday 3rd August 2025.
A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said: “Not long until The Southport Seaside 10K! Have you registered yet? You can choose to run for Queenscourt Hospice.
“Join us on Sunday, 3rd August 2025 for a scenic 10K along Southport’s stunning seafront.
“Starting just outside Adventure Coast, the route takes you through the park before heading along Marine Drive – a fast, flat course perfect for PB chasers and first-timers alike!
“When signing up, don’t forget to select ‘Run for Charity’ and choose Queenscourt Hospice from the drop-down.”
