The Atkinson in Southport is looking forward to helping families enjoy a range of fun  activities and shows during February Half Term 2026! 

The Atkinson is based on Lord Street, opposite the Town Hall Gardens, where you can see the new Lightport event taking place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings (14th-16th February 2026). 

The venue is a brilliant destination for families, offering a huge variety of exhibitions and events to explore, many of them completely free! 

From hands‑on workshops and interactive displays to family-friendly performances, every part of The Atkinson’s programme is designed to spark creativity, curiosity and joy for all ages. 

Take a look at the exciting activities happening this Half Term and start planning a

creative day out together.

1 – The Bubble Show 2 – More Bubbles!

Wednesday 18th February 2026. 2pm. £12.

A dazzling new adventure full of bubble artistry and visual magic!

Journey through the awe-inspiring legends of Bubbleland, as they are brought to life in a breathtaking theatrical experience made of soap and water. 

Don’t miss this feast for the senses, featuring fire, puppetry, lights, music, and brand-new bubble masterpieces never seen before.

Whether you’re discovering bubble theatre for the first time or returning for more, this show promises a fresh and unforgettable delight for all ages.

2 – Pop Princesses: World Tour

Friday 20th February. 2pm. £18.50 / £27.50 Meet & Greet.

Four fabulous fairy tale princesses return to The Atkinson, and this time they are on their first world tour! This children’s pop concert features a soundtrack of chart-topping hits from artists like Taylor Swift, Miley Syrus, and Dua Lipa, plus some of the best songs from your favourite

films and musicals. Come and join the Pop Princess on their epic adventure to become pop stars. Fancy dress encouraged! Meet and Greet tickets available.

3 – Story & Rhyme Time

Wednesday 18 February 2026. 11:30am – 12:25pm. Free, drop in event.

Explore stories through rhyme and help develop your child’s language and communication skills while meeting other parents and carers.

Together with our friendly librarians, babies and under-fives will enjoy learning new songs, dancing, and making friends.

4 – Make it! Craft Workshop

Thursday 19 February 2026. 11am – 3pm. Free, drop in event.

Join artist Linny Venables for a ‘Sweet Factory’ themed arts and crafts workshop suitable for all the family. ‘Sweet Factory’ is a playful, imaginative exhibition inspired by sweets and treat‑making. There’s something for all ages, with all materials supplied and all for free!

5 – Ukrainian Day

Saturday 21 February 2026. 11am – 3pm. Free, drop in event.

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture with a captivating day of events at The Atkinson. There will be a coffee morning, a choir performance, craft workshops and traditional dress alongside a community exhibition where you can find out more about Ukrainian culture.

6 – Museum & Art Gallery

Monday – Saturday. 10am – 4pm. Free entry.

Be inspired in The Atkinson’s Art Gallery, where you can explore an impressive variety of work, from paintings and sculpture to digital art and more. Families can unleash their creativity with activities in the Art Box and take part in free artist-led workshops during school holidays.

Step into the fascinating world of the Egyptology Museum, home to the remarkable personal collection of Anne Goodison. One of only a handful of wealthy Victorian women in the North West captivated by ancient Egypt, her artefacts are now brought to life through an interactive and immersive display.

Discover Sefton’s rich and varied story in Between Land & Sea, the local history museum that traces the area’s journey from prehistoric times to the modern day. Bring objects to life by scanning QR codes with your phone, send a digital postcard from sunny Southport, and even snap a selfie in historic costume at our dressing‑up wall.
