Welcome to the weekend! There are lots of things to enjoy in Southport thai Saturday and Sunday, from the new Dogs Direct UK Summer Festival to the biggest Armed Forces Day celebration in the North West to Lancashire County Cricket and more!

2 – Audio Book at Crave Pizza

Great pizza, great beer, and great tunes… 

Audio Book is back at Crave Pizza in the Town hall Gardens on Lord Street this Southport this Saturday (29th June 2024). 

Enjoy an early set from Jeff Wood, playing feel good, vocal, disco hits.

Then the rest of the day is handed over to Elder, Liam and Parky knocking out a varied collection of classics, house, disco and soulful, as the sunshine beats down, the beer flows and the pizza melts.

3 – Construction Club at The Atkinson

10:30 am – 12:30 pm

The Atkinson Children’s Library

Free. Donations welcome.

Young inventors, creators and builders are invited to drop in and play with our massive supply of LEGO

Join us and let your imagination run wild!

Construction Club takes place on the last Saturday of the month.

Admission is free. Last entry is at 12pm. Ages 5+. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Spaces limited. First come first served basis. You may be expected to wait until a space at a table becomes available.

People are invited to Southport on Sunday, 30th June 2024 to enjoy the biggest Armed Forces Day celebration in the North West. 

The popular, free event has grown in size in recent years and promises to be even bigger and better than ever before for visitors of all ages. 

The Royal British Legion Southport and SSAFA Merseyside have partnered to bring everyone this brilliant day out with a whole host of activities taking place on and around Lord Street in Southport town centre from 10am onwards. 

Don’t miss the Southport Armed Forces Day parade, which will start at 10.30am.

Among those taking part will be The Liverpool Scottish Regimental Association Pipes and Drums; The Band of the 4th Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment; Merseyside Army Cadet Force; 281 Southport Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets; and Southport Sea Cadets. 

This year’s Southport Armed Forces Day takes place just a few weeks after the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings during World War Two. 

The Atkinson on Lord Street will host Armed Forces Day activities and displays while the Town Hall Gardens will be full of things to enjoy. 

The centre of Lord Street will be closed while the event is taking place, with a large number of visitors expected from across the region. 

5 – Lancashire County Cricket returns

Preparations are going really well for Lancashire County Cricket’s Division One match against Nottinghamshire in Southport. 

The four-day event will be hosted by Southport and Birkdale Sports Club starting this Sunday, 30th June 2024.

Appearances are expected from England’s greatest fast bowler, James Anderson, in what could be the last chance to see him play after announcing his retirement. 

Australian test-spinner, Nathan Lyon, may also be playing.

6 – Euro 2024

England are back in action this Sunday! 

They take on Slovakia in the next round of Euro 2024, aiming to reach the quarter finals. 

Kick off is 5pm, with pubs and bars across Southport welcoming people to enjoy the event. 

Enjoy the outdoor big screens at venues like the Lord Street Hotel or Crave, with screens inside pubs across town including The Monument, The Mount, The Bold Arms, The Park Hotel, Southport Tavern, Southport Coaster, The Blue Anchor and many more.
