103rd Ainsdale Show returns to Southport with arena events, fairground rides, live music and more

One of the longest running horticultural shows in the country returns to Southport this weekend. 

The 103rd Ainsdale Show will take place on Ainsdale Village Green and in Ainsdale Methodist Church with a variety of events on Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th July 2025. 

It will be preceded by a Pet Show on Friday evening. 

The event is organised by Ainsdale Horticultural Society.

The exhibitors, showground entertainment, the pet show, our sponsors, traders, the cakes and beer, craft stalls, our members and visitors will all be back.

The event was free last year but this year entry to the Village Green will incur a charge – £5 for a family which covers entry for two days including exhibits and a music festival on the Sunday. 

A spokesperson for Ainsdale Horticultural Society said: “There are hundreds of copies of the programme around the area detailing the event. 

“The show is running for two days this year and will feature a pet show on Friday evening, then the usual arena events on Saturday including a banjolele group, various trade stands and the horticultural and children’s exhibits. 

“On Sunday there is a car boot sale till midday. 

“At midday the musical entertainment starts with two sets from Claire Simmo, The Fuse and the JKH Band. The show ends at 5pm.”

There will be first, second and third prizes plus special awards at the judges discretion. The regular classes of Floral Art, Children’s exhibits and Photography as well as the usual display of plants, fruit and vegetables.

Organisers will also serve afternoon tea, coffee and cakes. There will be a charge for exhibiting items in the show but members will enjoy free entry for as many items as they wish to enter.

The Village Green will have an exciting two day show with Saturday having all the favourite attractions including the arena events from live music to dog displays plus pet show, a large fairground, craft fair, trade and charity stalls plus a bar and catering units.

Sunday will have the usual car boot sale from 8am and then from noon there will be a music on the green afternoon with music on the stage and people are encouraged to bring chairs and supplies to have a picnic. The fairground and catering units will trade all day.

Ainsdale Summer Show was first staged in 1922.

Friday 4th July 2025 – Pet Show

Pets to be shown by children. Judging starts at 6.30pm. You can bring pets from 6pm. £1 entry – prizes in 4 classes. Cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs & other small animals.

Saturday 5th July 2025 – 103rd Ainsdale Summer Show

All the favourite attractions including the arena attractions, a large fairground, craft fair, trade, charity stalls, a bar and catering units. 

The horticultural and children’s exhibits will be shown in the usual marquees this year but entry to the village green will incur a charge – £5 for a family which covers entry for two days including exhibits and a music festival on the Sunday. 

Sunday 6th July 2025 – Car Boot Sale

Traders admitted from 7am
Public admission from 8am – free entry
