The O’Malley family in Southport is running the Manchester Half Marathon this May to raise money for the Walton Centre in memory of Bernard and Joan O’Malley.
The couple, who were married for 65 years and founded Nationwide Produce, sadly died in October last year.
They were always huge supporters of the local community.
And now family members are getting ready to run in Manchester to raise funds in their memory.

A Nationwide Produce spokesperson said: “Last year, we sadly lost our founder Bernard and his beloved wife Joan just 19 days apart, aged 88. Married for 65 years, they were inseparable in life and are now reunited.
“In honour of them both, the O’Malley family is taking on the Manchester Half Marathon on the 18th of May to raise funds for a truly special cause: The Walton Centre Charity.
“The Walton Centre provided incredible care during Bernard’s final days, ensuring he was comfortable, supported, and treated with dignity.
“While his family attended Joan’s funeral, Bernard was not alone, he was cared for by compassionate nurses who held his hand until he could peacefully join her once again.
“The Walton Centre Charity supports vital research, innovation, and family-focused care. It’s a place that gave so much to the O’Malley family, and now Bernard’s grandchildren would love to give something back.
“In the words of Grandad Bernard ‘get it right…. It’s a long way to run… but bloody enjoy it!’.
“From the whole Nationwide Produce Group, Good Luck to Meg, Cam, Hannah, Grace, Maeve, Max, Rob and Jack!”

Many tributes were paid after Bernard and Joan O’Malley died within days of each other in October last year aged 88-years-old following 65 years of married life.
Mr and Mrs O’Malley founded what is now Nationwide Produce PLC, which has its headquarters on Lord Street in Southport town centre.
The couple and their family have grown Nationwide Produce PLC 50 years ago into one of the largest, longest established, and most diverse produce companies in the UK with a £186m turnover operating across four countries and employing 300 staff.
They have long been hugely supportive of a wide range of community projects in the Southport area and beyond.
