Work on the new Starbucks drive-through coffee shop at Ocean Plaza Leisure in Southport is due to begin next week.

The new facility will be the first drive-through Starbucks in Southport and will create 20 new local jobs.

Also coming soon is a brand new Coastline Crossfit facility with work already taking place.

Talks are underway with more exciting potential new additions to the site, which is perfectly placed between Southport Beach and Southport town centre.

The new additions will add to the exciting leisure and hospitality offering already at Ocean Plaza Leisure, which includes Vue Cinema, Tenpin bowling, Playtown children’s centre, Roberto’s Italian restaurant, Everlast Gym, Nando’s restaurant, Subway sandwich shop and Evans Cycles.

Ocean Plaza Leisure Tenant Liaison Manager Tracey Johnson said: “We are excited to see that work on the new Starbucks drive-through is due to start on Tuesday 30th May.

“Starbucks is aiming to complete the work by the beginning of October.

“It will be a great new addition to Ocean Plaza Leisure, creating even more choice for our customers.

“We are also looking forward to seeing the new Coastline Crossfit gym coming soon.

“This is going to be inside the old Riley’s unit, between Nando’s restaurant and Vue Cinema.

“We are currently in talks with other operators about moving into other vacant units.

“There are some really exciting things coming to Ocean Plaza.

“They all add to the experiences that people can enjoy when they come to Southport with new attractions on offer.”

Ocean Plaza Leisure is continuing to support a variety of community events in the town.

It has just worked alongside Sandgrounder Radio on the annual Easter Egg Appeal, which saw over 200 Easter eggs donated to children in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

They also sponsored the Queenscourt Hospice Christmas tree initiative

Tracey Johnson said: “We are looking forward to supporting the brilliant Southport Comedy Festival at Victoria Park again this year.

“It’s an event that brings some of the biggest names in UK comedy and lots of visitors into Southport.

“We are also supporting Southport Classic and Speed this year, which is a fabulous event.

“It is a fast growing spectacle that is only going to get bigger.

“The Speed Trials on Saturday happen along Marine Drive, right on our doorstep at Ocean Plaza Leisure, so we very much wanted to be part of it.

“We hope lots of visitors to Classic and Speed will also call into Ocean Plaza Leisure to enjoy all that our site has to offer.

“On the Sunday, when the event moves to Victoria Park, each car that registers with Southport Classic and Speed will receive a decal with a number on that will be sponsored by Ocean Plaza.

“It will be a lovely keepsake for everyone taking part.”

Plans for the new Starbucks drive-through at Ocean Plaza Leisure were approved by Sefton Council last year.

The new venue will also include an external seating area.

It will be situated in the car park opposite the existing McDonald’s drive through.
