The Winter Support Grants, coordinated by Sefton CVS, working with NHS Cheshire and Merseyside and the Sefton Partnership, will provide funding from £500 up to £5,000 for local community health & wellbeing projects aiming to improve access to support for:-

  • Older people to help them keep well during the winter. (including intergenerational activities)
  • Older People who experience loneliness, isolation, anxiety, and depression.
  • People who have long term health conditions and may benefit from support to stay well and avoid hospital admissions. (The following long-term conditions are a particular area of focus: cancer, cardio-vascular disease including stroke and diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, dementia, mental health and musculoskeletal disorders.)

Projects do not necessarily have to be new. We are looking to fund projects aiming to improve the health and well-being of the people above.

Angela White OBE, Chief Executive of Sefton CVS said: “The local voluntary, community and faith (VCF) sector is making a significant contribution in supporting older people across the borough. This grant scheme will enable the sector to come forward with further proposals to reduce isolation, support social and wellbeing and activities that address long term conditions.

Sefton CVS is delighted to be working with the Sefton Partnership to provide further investment into our sector to improve the lives of our local residents”

Tracy Jeffes, Associate Director of Primary Care and Community Integration, Sefton Place, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside commented;  “We are really pleased to launch this grant scheme to enable our local VCF sector organisations to further support older people in Sefton during this winter period.

The grant scheme will provide an opportunity to enhance accessibility to support across the borough for older residents and those living with long-term health conditions. Through this investment VCF sector organisations will be able to provide localised targeted support, improving the health and wellbeing of local communities across the borough.”

This funding is designed to provide small grants to local groups and organisations working in Sefton.

We would encourage small local community groups and organisation to apply for micro grants of £500 – £1000.
