Yassou file mu!

A vibrant Greek street food stall is due to open inside the new look Southport Market.

Pitamu is being created by Dino Kottis and Banico Zeniou, with over 40 years combined experience in hospitality. The pair have already operated restaurants and takeaway stores in Greece and the UK.

They said: “Pitamu is about bringing together that combination of delicious Greek street food, using high quality ingredients and creating that familiar feeling you get when you enjoy your Pita with Yeero and Souvlaki in your Greek holidays.

“We are not just passionate about great Greek food. We are passionate about the experiences we create for our guests and the story they will share with their friends and family after visiting our little pitamu!

“Pitamu will be the first of its kind in Southport.

“We are both delighted to be part of the Southport Market team, who are really trying their best to create something new and exciting for Southport.

“We really hope people enjoy visiting the new-look market and get right behind it.

“Efharisto poli!”

Sefton Council is leading the transformation of Southport Market, on the corner of King Street and Market Street, into an exciting new food, drink and events hub.

Once complete Southport Market will have 11 food and drink units serving up mouth-watering food, supported by fresh produce from Blackhursts Butchers and flexible event and market space.

The new-look Southport Market is on course to open its doors this summer, thanks to the hard work of Sefton Council and partners including builders Medlock and Architect & Interior designers DV8 Design, which specialises in hospitality and commercial transformations.

The building is undergoing its £1.4million redevelopment thanks to £900,000 funding through Southport Town Deal and £500,000 through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

They will be joined by:

600 Degrees (wood-fired speciality pizza)

Pitamu (vibrant Greek street food)

Allotment (big American burgers and loaded fries)

Hectors Mexicana (the freshest Mexican street food)

Down and Oot (sizzling Canadian premium steaks and poutine)

King St. Bakery (iconic Portuguese tarts from Lisbon, plus tasty treats from across the UK)

Messy Moments (freshly-made crêpes or waffles with a variety of toppings)

Birkdale Pie & Mash (delicious home-made pies with a variety of fresh fillings)
