I am blown away by the kindness and the vision behind the £10 million transformation of the Town Hall Gardens in Southport.

It’s being led by the families of Elsie, Alice and Bebe, as their way of saying a huge thank you to the community of Southport for the support they have been given over recent months.

They brought their plans into 10 Downing Street and showed them to the Prime Minister and his team – and then walked away with £10 million to improve Southport.

Wow.

The Southport Visiter front page on 19th June 2025 celebrates the announcement of the £10 million transformation of the Town Hall Gardens in Southport in a scheme led by the families of Bebe, Alice and Elsie

This scheme will create an exciting, vibrant space right outside The Atkinson which will be filled with events, festivals, laughter, joy and togetherness.

It is going to bring people together; it will attract people from across our region into Southport town centre.

Three families who have lost more than any of us can ever imagine have worked so hard to make something beautiful, positive, and lasting for others.

How incredibly selfless; kind; and determined.

There aren’t many people in the world who can walk into 10 Downing Street and walk away with something as transformative as this!

As a Southport resident; as a parent; as a member of this community – all I can say is a huge thank you.
I am excited to see these plans develop, and keen to see the local community get involved in shaping its future and supporting the families and Sefton Council in what they need to bring this vision to reality
Southport Together in action.
