An experienced equine veterinary surgeon has opened a new vets practice in Southport looking after horses across the North West.
Stephanie Miller has opened The Sport Horse Vet at 19 Church Street, Southport town centre, having spent time working in Yorkshire and The Isle Of Man.
Stephanie Miller BVSc BSc (Hons) PgCert VPS CertAVP MRCVS said: “I’m very pleased to introduce The Sport Horse Vet — an independent ambulatory equine veterinary practice providing personal, experienced and evidence-led veterinary care across the North West.
“I’m Stephanie Miller BVSc BSc (Hons) PgCert VPS CertAVP MRCVS, an equine veterinary surgeon with over 13 years’ experience in equine practice.

“My clinical interests are centred around sport horse medicine, lameness, orthopaedics and poor performance. I hold a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP), with a focus on lameness diagnostics and therapeutics, and I am also trained in veterinary acupuncture.
My career has included many years in first-opinion equine practice across the North West, alongside time at Rainbow Equine Hospital in Yorkshire and working with an equine practice on the Isle of Man. I am also an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian, Accredited Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon and Official Veterinarian (OV).
“I founded The Sport Horse Vet to offer a personal and individual approach to equine veterinary care — allowing the time to understand each horse, look at the whole picture and provide thorough, practical and evidence-led care tailored to the individual.
“Although there is a particular focus on sport horse lameness, orthopaedics and performance, the practice provides comprehensive ambulatory veterinary care, from routine and preventative healthcare through to investigation, treatment and rehabilitation.
“As a lifelong horse owner and rider who has competed with my own horses, I understand both the demands placed on the equine athlete and the importance of the partnership between horse and rider. That perspective is an important part of the way I approach each horse and each case.”
