Formby based StemCellScousers have thanked people for supporting their FLAME event (Formby Local Artistes Music Extravaganza).

Produced by the amazingly talented  Pat Harwood from Formby UKE3A and Folk Routes, the fantastic  Family Fun Day was on Saturday 3rd August at Formby Pool Garden.  

The event was hosted by Mark Snaylam (Mighty Radio Southport and Liverpool Live Radio).

The show opened with a Fan Fare of Jesus Christ Superstar introducing Make Noise Choir,  followed by Cabin Hill Band, Formby U3A Folk Group, Shanty Kings,  Folk Routes, County Folk,  SOS, Jackfruit Ste, Heart Strings, the finale was “AMARILLO” by Formby UKE3A

The “SMOKEY SQURILL”  a newly formed outside catering business launched their Burger Trailer at the event selling Fresh from a Local Butcher Burgers and Fresh Home Made Chips. Feedback from the locals was one of the Best Burgers around.

There was a Raffle with some Amazing Prizes the highlight was a Framed and Signed Endo shirt donated by LFC. 

The winning ticket was bought by local Formby resident Emma Harrison. 

Kevin from StemCellScousers would like to Say a Massive thank you to Emma and all the other people who bought tickets and to LFC Foundation for Donating the Shirt. As well as The Grapes and Pinewoods pubs for supporting the event and selling So Many raffle tickets. Emma’s mum Pat Harrison was presented with the shirt on Monday 19th. August by Mark SNAYLAM in the Grapes.

There was a Tombola with a massive number of local businesses  and branches of national business providing Money off Vouchers especially SPECSAVERS Who donated 2 £100. and 2 £125 Vouchers to be used in their Formby, Southport, Crosby and Bootle branches. And Lisa the community Champion from TESCO FORMBY who donated a £30 Gift Card.

Kevin also wants to thank Amy from  DELISH Cafe on Brows Lane and Bob Anderton from Liverpool Shanty King’s who both very generously donated £100 each to StemCellScousers,  Also Formby Methodist Church for their £50 donation

The Children’s Activities included a train ride provided by Bernie Johnson who donated £70 to the  StemCellScousers. 

There was a  Penalty Shoot Out with a LFC ball signed by Trent Alexander Arnold donated by the Andy McAuley Football Academy.  And Vicki from MacDonalds Formby who provided a kids colouring table,  ALL the Balloons, and £25 MONEY OFF VOUCHER.  Kevin would like to thank Ruth from the BRIDGE INN SADDLERY for keeping the dogs in Formby “Fed and Watered”  at her Doggie Cafe.

Kevin would also like to thank Leum from Formby Pool Trust for staging the event and allowing us to use their magnificent facilities which enabled the StemCellScousers to donate the £850 profit from the event to the Anthony Nolan StemCell Donor Register which will enable them to recruit 21 New Stem Cell Donors.

StemCellScousers have now donated over £52,000 to the Anthony Nolan Trust since their formation in 2015 which has funded 1,300 new StemCell Donors to their register.   StemCellScousers have also recruited 496 new Donors to the DKMS StemCell Donor Register.

StemCellScousers was formed  by Kevin Dunne and his family after the Anthony Nolan found a Donor in the USA to treat his wife’s very aggressive leukaemia.

A transplant was her only chance of survival. She is still in remission and plays a leading role in the Battle Against Blood Cancer
