Xander's Fish Bar on Eastbank Street in Southport

Southport’s newest chippy is enjoying serving dine-in customers at its restaurant for the first time today, after the Covid-19 national lockdown ended. 

Xander’s Fish Bar, on Eastbank Street, opened two weeks ago on November 16. But with the lockdown rules in place they were only allowed to do home deliveries or receive orders for collection. 

Today they are delighted to be fully open for the first time. 

They said: “After the Government announcement, we are happy to inform people that Xander’s Fish Bar is now for customers to dine in!

“We are excited to be welcoming our first customers in our restaurant. We look forward to serving you!

“The safety of our customers and staff is essential to us and so we have implemented several measures in line with Government guidelines to ensure that when dining at our premises, you can be at ease.”

These measures include:

  1. Adhering to the 1m distancing rule  
  2. Providing employees with all necessary PPE
  3. Hand sanitising products
  4. Table service only 

Xander’s Fish Bar opened on Monday, 16 November on Eastbank Street, where Harper’s used to be, following an extensive refurbishment. 

The business is open throughout lockdown with customers able to place orders for collection, or book a home delivery.

The owners said: “At Xander’s, we are committed to providing our customers with the very best traditional fish and chips. 

“We only serve the traditional British chip specifically selected for its taste and texture that we peel and cut ourselves.

“We endeavour to purchase the freshest fish from ethical and sustainable sources without compromising the high standards our loyal regulars come to expect.

“We believe in keeping it simple and staying true to the roots of the Chippy; just great fresh food, and friendly service.”

Customers can be guaranteed freshly cooked food at Xander’s. 

They said: “All orders are cooked fresh on demand as quickly as we can without compromising on quality. But, even if customers are queueing, our servers make sure they are kept informed about the waiting times.

“We want to carry on serving great food for years to come, so we hope you can join us for your fish supper sometime soon.”

Xander’s Fish Bar is open Mondays to Saturdays 11.30am to 9pm and Sunday 3pm to 9pm.

The venue serves traditional Fish & Chips, Kebabs,Burgers, Holland’s Pies and many more.

Order in a flash through delivery partners Foodhub, Just Eat and Southport Eats. Orders placed with Xander’s directly will be priced differently.
