A determined Southport schoolgirl is getting ready to climb the highest mountain in Wales to raise money for children with stomas.

Mia Davies, aged 13, a student at Greenbank High School in Southport, will aim to climb Mount Snowdon this Wednesday (19th February 2025).

She has been inspired to take on the tough challenge by her younger sister, Aoife, aged 11.

People are welcome to donate via her JustGiving page here: Christopher Davies is fundraising for A Bear Named Buttony

Mount Snowdon stands tall at 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, which makes it both the highest mountain in Wales and the highest in the British Isles south of the Scottish Highlands.

Mia’s proud Dad Chris Davies said: “It’s my daughter Mia’s walk up Snowdon this Wednesday!

“I know times are hard and money can be a little tight but Mia has decided to try to raise some money for the charity ‘A Bear Named Buttony’ while she is completing her Guides Gold Award, by walking up Snowdon.

“She had chosen this charity as it supports children and young adults with stomas.

“This is something my younger daughter, Aoife, had two years ago.

“Mia chose to support A Bear Called Buttony because she can see the help that it gives children in the same position as her sister.

“Mia has not set a target as she just said that she will be happy raising anything. So if you can afford it please click the link and donate.

“She is looking forward to her challenge on Wednesday and will be trying to do a video to document her walk.

“We are looking forward to doing this as a family.”
