Southport was feeling very festive on Sunday (3rd December 2023) when the 2023 Southport Santa Sprint took place.

Hundreds of runners made their way around either a 3k or a 5k course in order to raise as much money as they could for Queenscourt Hospice.

There were some fantastic costumes, including Cruella De Vil and her two Dalmatians; and lots of paddle boarding Santas from the SUP North group on Marine Lake to cheer on the runners.

Fundraisers registered at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant, where they enjoyed free hot tea and coffee to warm up, before enjoying free rides on Silcock’s Carousel.

Participants set off on a scenic route around the Marine Lake before heading back along the Promenade.

One runner had flown into town from New Zealand before taking part, while a family who had ventured in to enjoy a coffee before seeing all the Santas then signed up to join in on the spot.

The Santa Sprint has raised over £115,000 for Queenscourt Hospice since its inception before this year and is a full family affair, with lots of dogs taking part.

Everyone taking part was awarded medals, while runners were welcomed to enjoy free tea and cake at The Grand on Lord Street afterwards.
