An inspirational Southport nursing home Matron has been honoured in recognition of her 50 years of continuous nursing service.
Elaine Williams, a Registered General Nurse at Birkdale Park Nursing Home in Southport, was presented with a special certificate from the Nursing and Midwifery Council by Merseyside Lord Lieutenant Mark Blundell.
Birkdale Park Nursing Home Jonathan Cunningham said: “We are immensely proud of our home Matron Elaine.
“This is an incredible award that we had to appropriately recognise her immense achievement.
“Huge thanks and appreciation to Mark Blundell the Merseyside Lord Lieutenant for agreeing to make the presentation to Elaine.
“She is a wonderful nurse and everyone loves her! Congratulations Elaine.”
Elaine Williams started her nursing career in 1971 as a nursing cadet working on Southport Spinal Wards at Southport Promenade Hospital.
Over the years she has worked in hospitals and multiple care homes.
Her passion is end of life palliative care and has a particular interest in wounds management.
She has been at Birkdale Park Nursing Home for many years and has promised to remain for another 50 years!
Mark Blundell spent an hour visiting Birkdale Park, meeting the residents and staff.
He was shown electronic digital care planning and other uses for IT in a social care setting.
Jonathan Cunningham said: “Well done Nurse Elaine – the world needs more Elaines!”
