The thriving Southport Market is back open again this weekend before a two-week pause during January.

The food, drink and events facility on the corner of King Street and Market Street will be welcoming hundreds of visitors this Saturday and Sunday (8th and 9th January 2023) before closing temporarily from Monday onwards for the next fortnight.

So if you’re looking to enjoy your final fix of delicious sushi, halloumi fries, burgers, lobsters rolls, pizza, pasta or any of the venue’s other delicacies, now is the time.

A Southport Market spokesperson said: “It’s the weekend and that means one thing and one thing only…

“Come down and get your fix before we shut for two weeks.

“Who’s been back to work this week…? Come cheer yourself up with a good meal washed down with a beer.!”

The £1.4 million refurbishment and repurpose of the old Southport Market building into an exciting new food, drink and events venue was completed in July 2021.

The new Southport Market welcomed, and continues to welcome, guests locally, regionally and nationally.

Since last summer, the hugely popular food and drink hall in Southport town centre has already served over a quarter of a million meals and 100,000 pints to tens of thousands of visitors.

It has also directly led to a transformation of the surrounding Market Quarter area with a number of new shops and businesses opening up due to increased footfall.

Southport Market’s success is expected to grow even more in 2023 with significant changes to the public realm space around Market Street and King Street, which are designed to increase footfall in the area.
