Southport guest house wins top honour at Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards as owners praise ‘inspiring’ hospitality sector

Sunnyside Guest House in Southport won Independent Tourism Business of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards. The award was presented to owners Anthony and Larissa Duffey

The multi award-winning Sunnyside Guest House in Southport has been honoured with another prestigious title at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards – one of THREE it was recognised for! 

The stylish, welcoming and sustainable venue, on Bath Street in Southport town centre, won the Independent Tourism Business of the Year title.

Sunnyside Guest House was also celebrated as a Finalist in two further categories – Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award and International Tourism Award. 

Owners Anthony and Larissa Duffey said: 

“What a fantastic night! It was brilliant to be surrounded by so many passionate people who work so hard to make our region such an incredible place to visit, stay and experience. 

“From hospitality and attractions to events and culture, the talent and dedication across the Liverpool City Region is truly inspiring. 

“A huge congratulations to all of the finalists and winners and a big thank you to everyone who makes our visitor economy so special. 

“We are proud to celebrate the people and businesses that showcase the very best of our region.”

It was a brilliant night for Sefton businesses at the awards. 

The Bold Hotel on Lord Street was named Small Serviced Accommodation of the Year.

Southport Flower Show,  Southport Food and Drink Festival and Salt and Tar Music Weekend in Bootle were Finalists for Event or Festival of the Year while The Bus Yard in Crosby was a Finalist for Independent Tourism Business of the Year.

The prestigious Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards ceremony, held at Liverpool Cathedral was hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside presenter, Kevin Duala.

The event honoured the individuals, businesses and organisations whose work has welcomed thousands of visitors over the past year.
