Southport FC fans are being urged to show their generosity towards Southport Soup Kitchen when the Sandgrounders play Hereford on Saturday, 4th December.
A number of supporters are running a special Christmas Collection at the game in order to help underprivileged families and children who deserve support at this time of year.
Howard Birch said: “I am one of a group of Supporters who, in partnership with Southport FC, will be running a Christmas Collection for the Southport Soup Kitchen on Saturday 4th December in conjunction with the game against Hereford.
“Southport Soup Kitchen, for those that don’t know, is a community charity based on London Street near Southport Train Station.
“At this time of year they try and supply some Christmas cheer for some of the underprivileged families and Children in particular and we thought we would like to help.
“Therefore we are asking that at that game all Port Fans bring a contribution which we will pass on.
“We will be collecting items in the Fan Zone building. In exchange contributors will receive a mince pie and a glass of sherry, or sweets for the kids
“The Soup Kitchen have said they would most appreciate toys suitable for Kids between 1 and 15 years old for families in need at Christmas, toiletry sets for our Christmas boxes, or they also appreciate non-perishable food items. Tinned food being ideal.
“We are also looking at a collection point at the Blowick end of the ground and will update on that when we can.”
