One of the UK’s most treasured entertainers, Mick has been at the top of his game for over 40 years.

Southport Comedy Festival director Brendan Riley said: “Mick Miller is a brilliant comedian. He is 74 and is still going strong, he’s a comedy legend.

“He has built up a huge following of comedy fans of all different ages, across different generations.

“His ticket sales since we announced him this week have been phenomenal.

“He has never performed at Southport Comedy Festival before, so we are really looking forward to having him here with us.

“We have tried really hard to bring him to Southport in previous years but for one reason or another, the dates have never been quite right, and we’ve never quite been able to make it happen.

“He is an absolute comedy legend. His poise, the way he holds the audience, the material he creates is superb.

“Many older people will be familiar with his TV performances on comedy shows such as The Comedians back in the day; but he’s always been an alternative comedian, he’s always been very inventive and very current.

“These days he has a following for his routines through TikTok, his gags on there get a great response.

“We are really pleased with our line-up at this year’s Southport Comedy Festival.

“We have comedy for all tastes, with the likes of Mick Miller, Ben Elton, Dan Nightingale, Katie Tracey, so many different styles and acts – it’s like putting together the perfect storm!”

Often referred to as “The bald guy with the long hair,” Mick Miller first came to prominence in the 1970’s on the iconic ITV show The Comedians.

In the 1980s, Mick co-hosted his own Saturday evening show on ITV The Funny Side along with Cheryl Baker and the late Mike Smith.

Thanks to shows such as Des O’Connor Tonight, he has appeared on TV every year since The Comedians.

Mick remains as relevant and funny today, he is one of the few comedians of his generation who has made the transition onto the alternative circuit, creating a younger fan base along the way. He also remains as busy as ever working all over the world. In October 2017, he realised one of his lifelong ambitions, performing to a packed house and receiving a standing ovation at one of the iconic Las Vegas venues as part of the ITV series ‘Last Laugh in Vegas’.

Mick has also landed several acting roles to include Ideal with Johnny Vegas, and Peter Kay’s Car Share. He has also made appearances on shows such as John Bishop’s Only Joking and Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford and They Think It’s All Over.

This will be a masterclass in stand-up comedy not to be missed.

Tickets for Mick’s show are now on sale at £15 each.

Mick is the 12th big name to be announced for this year’s 17 day event which will be held for a fourth year in a luxury heated and seated marquee courtesy of Elite Marquees at Victoria Park in Southport from 27th September to Sunday 13th October 2024.

Mick joins an already stellar line-up at this year’s festival to include the undisputed godfather of modern stand-Up Ben Elton, Persian Comedy Powerhouse Omid Djalili, German comedy ambassador Henning Wehn, Festival favourites Jason Byrne, Jimeoin, Godfather of political comedy Mark Thomas and Star of ITV’S The Chase Paul Sinha ‘The Sinnerman’, comedy stars of TV Jo Caulfield, Hal Cruttenden, Ria Lina and host of smash hit podcast ‘Have a Word’, Dan Nightingale.
