A brand new programme of courses for adults at Southport College is now available, with a wide range of courses starting this September.
Adult learning has always been a popular aspect of the town’s college, and this year learners can choose from £10 introductory learning for pleasure courses in subjects such as Spanish, Creative Writing or Photography; to upskilling or completely retraining with more in-depth courses in subjects such as Accountancy, Counselling, Motor Vehicle Engineering and Early Years Education.
There is also an option to enrol at the College’s University Centre and embark on an HND or Degree course, where there are still a few places left for this September.
In order to progress in the world of work, many employers are now requiring employees to have GCSE English and Maths, and as a result the adult courses in these subjects have never been more popular. There are lots of different time slots to choose from for those that need to fit around work or family and the tutors are really friendly and supportive, what’s more, if you don’t already have a grade C or above, the course is completely free of charge.
The popularity of the college’s ESOL courses has grown in recent times too.
There is a range of levels to choose from depending on your capability and the courses are highly practical and include role play to help with common situations such as using public transport or going to the bank. There are options for Reading, Speaking and Listening or Writing, and there is currently an offer where if you pay for one course you get the second one this year free.
Finally, the College has introduced 25 brand new online courses that are completely free of charge to study. These courses give you recognised qualifications and are a great way to learn new skills or improve your employability, all in your own time and from home.
