Southport Food and Drink Festival paid partnership
A Southport chef has brought a brand new sushi outlet to the Southport Food and Drink Festival for the first time.
Karina Dayan and her team have unveiled the new Oishi nori house with the aim of “showing Southport how vibrant and special freshly made sushi is”.
The outlet is in the part of the park near Penelope’s restaurant and the new Birkdale Padel, which is due to open soon.
Karina said: “I have been making sushi for a long time and worked in a few sushi restaurants.
“I have been to Southport Food and Drink Festival for many years and I have never seen a sushi stall there, and always wondered why?

“Every year I waited to see if anyone would bring it to Southport, as Japanese food is now a very popular cuisine.
“As a professional chef I have specialised in sushi and Japanese food as this is my favourite cuisine, sushi in particular.
“I have always felt Southport lacks this type of food, there aren’t many sushi chefs around either.
“So I decided, why don’t I make it and show Southport how vibrant and special freshly-made sushi is.

“I do stick to the traditional Japanese style. I find it the most amazing combination of simple ingredients and I have been so excited to introduce it to Southport at the food festival.
“I hope people will come and try something new.”
