The Southport Charity Christmas Parade takes place this Sunday (1st December 2024), with Elsie’s Story as the event’s chosen charity.

Elsie’s Story is a Charitable Trust, launched in October in the name of young Southport girl Elsie Dot Stancombe, who her family lost so tragically in the Southport attack in July.

Her family are determined to “continue Elsie’s ‘story’; her positivity, love for others and energy of life.”

People will be able to support the parade and raise money in Elsie’s memory this Sunday.

Volunteers supporting the biggest charity Christmas parade in the North West will be accepting toy donations to support children in need this Christmas.

It will leave Warren farm in Formby at 4pm before heading along Liverpool Road through Ainsdale, then onto Waterloo Road, Lulworth Road onto Lord Street, onto Leicester Street ending with a Promenade Extravaganza in Southport town centre.

People are invited to enjoy the spectacle and cheer on the annual parade.

It takes place on the same day as the annual Southport Santa Sprint for Queenscourt Hospice, the festive Brass Band Concert at Botanic Gardens in Churchtown, Santa’s Grotto at Wayfarers Arcade, and the Birkdale Village Christmas Fayre.

Steph Collinson said: “How amazing are the guys Adam Holmes-Brown and Paul Holmes-Brown, back with a bang this year with the amazing charity truck run.

“So happy they have chosen Elsie’s Story as their chosen charity , please come along and get involved. It’s a brilliant day for kiddies, all for a good cause.

“Look out for the van with all the pink on and give us a wave, we will be stopping as much as we can to collect donations then finish off on the Promenade.

“See you on Sunday.

“This year’s Christmas Parade is not just about festive cheer; it’s about giving back to the community and honoring a very special little girl, Elsie, whose kindness and love for others continue to inspire us all.

“Throughout the parade, there will be plenty of donation buckets for those who wish to contribute.

“All cash donations will go to Elsie’s Story, Charitable Trust, established in her memory after the devastating Southport attack.

“Look out for a decorated van just for Elsie’s Story

“The Trust aims to:

  • Support young people in need.
  • Help community projects and medical care.
  • Fund good causes that bring people together and spread joy—just as Elsie did.

“Let’s honour Elsie’s legacy by coming together, celebrating her spirit, and giving generously to support this incredible cause.

“Thank you for helping us ensure that Elsie’s light continues to shine this Christmas and beyond.”
