Southport company Radwraps has won the prestigious Innovate UK Launchpad competition for its innovative new product development that promises to revolutionise the energy efficiency of home heating systems.
Radwraps, already known for its 10-year-old specially formulated magnetic radiator covers, has spent the past four years conducting extensive research and development to create a product that not only improves energy efficiency like at present but also adds energy back to heating systems.
This innovative development, in collaboration with Liverpool University (group of Prof. Dmitry Shchukin, Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy) and after previous Liverpool John Moores University research, involves the use of a Phase Change Material that enables the radiator covers to give energy back to heating systems. This breakthrough technology will allow boilers to be turned off quicker while still providing the same heating output, ultimately reducing carbon emissions and helping homes during times of energy crisis.
The Innovate UK Launchpad (Liverpool area) competition is one of the most prestigious in the UK, making Radwraps’ win a significant achievement.
The company’s success in the competition will enable it to employ local workers, continue to stay within the Liverpool city region and help to reduce energy costs during a time of need.
Radwraps Director James Maddocks said.“We are extremely proud to have won the Innovate UK Launchpad competition, as it is very difficult to win awards with such a prestigious organisation.
“We believe that our new product development will go a long way in reducing carbon emissions, helping homes during times of energy crisis, and getting the country closer to being net-zero.”
Radwraps’ new energy-efficient radiator covers promise to have a significant impact on the environment and the economy, making it a win-win solution for everyone.
