Couples will be left in a spin this Valentine’s Day thanks to one of Southport’s oldest and most romantic attractions.

Silcock’s Carousel, at the entrance to Southport Pier, has unveiled a special 2-for-1 offer for couples on Tuesday, 14th February 2023.

The deal will ensure your love goes round on one of the North West’s most historic attractions with 30 beautifully-painted horses or two carriages to choose from.

It could well be the ride of your life.

Silcock’s Operations Manager Serena Silcock-Prince said: “We always love to do something for couples on Valentine’s Day!

“It’s a great time to celebrate, after Christmas and before Easter.

“We always create a lovely Valentine’s display at Silcocks Funland, with lots of teddies, heart sweets and lollies, and other Valentine’s themed prizes to be won.

“People love winning the big teddies that we have!

“Silcock’s Carousel will be open on Valentine’s Day and every day during that week, which is also half-term.

“Silcock’s Funland will be open every day during that week too.

“We are really looking forward to a busy half term week not just for us, but also for all the local businesses here in Southport.

“Southport is a beautiful town with lots to offer couples, with excellent attractions like our Carousel and Silcock’s Funland, and also lots of great restaurants, hotels, shops and scenic places for a romantic day out such as the Promenade, Lord Street or Southport Pier.

“We have been working hard over winter keeping the Carousel in tip top condition.

“It is a really beautiful attraction.”

Herbert Silcock’s 121-year-old Carousel was built in 1901 in the reign of Queen Victoria.

The Gallopers ride, on Southport Pier Forecourt, weighs 18 tons, is 42ft in diameter and 18ft tall.

It features two beautifully-painted carriages and 30 horses, each named after members of the Silcock family or family friends.

The horses on the inside of the ride are original Anderson carvings and date to when the ride was built at the turn of the century.

The attraction was recently named one of 10 finalists in the Hidden Gem category in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.

Tickets for all riders are £2 each, with 2 for 1 for couples on Valentine’s Day. Small children must be accompanied by an adult.

Silcock’s Carousel is open every weekend and will be open every day during February half term.
