Serena Silcock-Prince says she is ‘honoured’ to have been appointed as the new President of Southport Royal British Legion.
Serena, the Operations Manager for Silcocks Leisure Group, was officially installed at a special ceremony.
She takes over the role from former Mayor Of Sefton Cllr Clare Carragher, who has served for the past three years.
Southport Royal British Legion plays a prominent role in the local community organising the annual Remembrance services in Southport, leading the local poppy appeal collections and operating the Armed Forces Community Hub for veterans on Wesley Street in Southport town centre.
The Legion also organises the annual Southport Armed Forces Day in Southport town centre, the biggest armed forces day event in the Liverpool City Region and one of the biggest in the country.
Serena Silcock-Prince said: “I am very honoured to have been asked to take on this role.
“I hugely admire the Southport Royal British Legion and all they do for the community in Southport, for veterans, cadets, serving armed forces personnel, and families.
“Major Nick McEntee and Sarah McEntee, who run Southport RBL, are very passionate about what they do and the support they are aiming to provide. They are very ambitious and want to continue to develop what they offer.

“I thought this year’s Remembrance Sunday parade and service in Southport were superb. There were so many people there, and the tone of the event was just right.
“It was great to see so many veterans coming into Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant after the event, it was lovely meeting them all.
“I always enjoy visiting the Armed Forces Community Hub and chatting with everyone there. It’s a wonderful facility for our community.
“It is a real honour to be asked to be involved and to support their work as much as I can.
“I would like to pay tribute to Clare Carragher, who has done a wonderful job for Southport Royal British Legion over the past three years.
“She worked really hard for the RBL and was a huge champion and advocate for the charity.”
Southport Royal British Legion Chair Major Nick McEntee said: “Clare Carragher has served as the President of our branch since she opened the Armed Forces Community Hub in 2022, making her an exceptional choice for the role.
“As a military child and the Armed Forces Champion for Sefton, Clare embodies a deep understanding of our mission to support the Armed Forces community in Southport and beyond.
“She has been an invaluable ambassador, a powerful advocate, and, most importantly, a beloved member of our hub family.
“Throughout her presidency, we have come to know and cherish not only Clare but also her family, who will continue to be an integral part of our journey toward making Southport the ideal place for members of the Armed Forces Community to live, work, and visit.
“As we embark on the next exciting chapter of enhancing our RBL branch, we are thrilled to welcome Serena Silcock-Prince as our incoming President.
“Serena is deeply rooted in Southport and embodies the spirit of our town.
“Our branch is dedicated not only to serving our military beneficiaries but also to contributing significantly to the town’s regeneration.
“Serena always brings joy and warmth to our hub with her visits, and her profound understanding of our objectives gives us confidence that she will be an outstanding advocate for our cause.
“We feel privileged to invite her and her family into the RBL family.”
