By Sophie Swain Stand Up For Southport
Preparations are going ‘really well’ for Lancashire County Cricket’s Division One match against Nottinghamshire in Southport.
The four-day event will be hosted by Southport and Birkdale Sports Club starting this Sunday, 30th June 2024.
Appearances are expected from England’s greatest fast bowler, James Anderson, in what could be the last chance to see him play after announcing his retirement.
Australian test-spinner, Nathan Lyon, may also be playing.
Caroline Douglas from S&B said: “Preparations are going really well.
“The marquee is up, the ground is being prepared and we’re beginning to sort the chairs out.”

The volunteers have been working hard and closely with the club members to put everything in place and ensure the occasion runs smoothly.
Caroline added: “Everyone is looking forward to it. It’s a fantastic event and will bring a lot of people into the town.
“D’Vine Catering is preparing to provide delicious meals and drinks for visitors across the four days. It’s going to be busy!”
D’Vine CEO Giles Gottig said: “It’s on track to be a great four days. Fingers crossed for some nice weather too!”
The event is open to families, with tickets and hospitality packages still available although the club is advising that people book in advance.
Caroline said: “The hospitality packages are always very popular, we do have a few spaces left.
“We are advising everyone to book in advance. If anyone would like any more information please get in touch and we’ll be happy to provide any details you require.”
Tickets are now available via the Lancashire County Cricket website here.
