Queenscourt Hospice Cook Supervisor Sandra Stevenson is hoping she has all the ingredients for success when she takes part in Strictly this weekend.

Sandra, who has worked at the hospice for the past 15 years, knows more than most about the huge impact that Queenscourt has on people’s lives.

That’s why she is determined to cook up a storm when she dances the Cha Cha alongside pro dancer Diane Longstaff at the Prince Of Wales Hotel this Saturday (15th November 2025) in one of the most glamorous fundraising events in the Southport calendar.

When she dances, she knows she has huge support from her colleagues at Queenscourt, who are backing her all the way to succeed.

Sandra said: “The anniversary of when I started working at Queenscourt Hospice falls on the same week as Strictly Queenscourt.

“I have been here for 15 years, the last six as Cook Supervisor.

“As a staff member, I see every day how vital it is to care for patients and their families when they need us the most.

“!I will be turning 60 just before this event, so I wanted to celebrate by taking part and raising money.

“So far I have been enjoying my dance practice sessions. I am enjoying them, they are going well.

“I have a great dance partner in Diane, she is really good fun!

“We are dancing eighth on the night. Hopefully the audience will be quite chilled by then!

“I am grateful for all the support I have been getting from my colleagues, they have been superb.

“My family have been hugely supportive too.

“Queenscourt Hospice is just such a wonderful environment to work in. It is a brilliant place, and I am part of such a great catering team.

“There are six of us who work together in the kitchen. Most of them will be there on Saturday cheering me on! They’re an amazing crew.

“I am keen to raise as much money as I can for Queenscourt Hospice.

“It’s a very well known and cherished charity in our area, which provides vital support at times when people need it the most.”

Sandra is no expert in dancing herself, although her family does have a rich dancing heritage.

She said: “My uncle, David Hipshaw, ran the David Hipshaw School Of Dance, which had dance schools all over. He is very well known locally. Lots of people learned to dance there.

“My aunty, Pauline Griffiths, was involved with the school of dance too.

“My Mum,  Carol Taylor, has a strong dance background too.

“Dance has always been a big part of our life – we have been brought up with it.

“I haven’t done any dancing for such a long time, but it has been fun getting back on the dancefloor.

“I just hope that Strictly is a wonderful evening of fundraising for Queenscourt Hospice.”

Strictly Queenscourt returns for its third dazzling year on Saturday 15th November 2025.

After two unforgettable sell-out events, the event is back with even more sparkle, sequins, and show-stopping moves!
