Schools are brilliant at getting involved in local issues. But which ones have gone further to really improve the world around them? We’d love to honour those that have.

The award isn’t just about academic performance, but about the role our schools play in the local community, supporting the borough’s young people and families.
The college looks forward to recognising the hard work and dedication of Sefton’s educators at this prestigious event.

“We are excited to honour the hard work and dedication of our schools, who have supported (and still do) so many children and families over the past few, very difficult, years.”
People and groups who go above and beyond to make Sefton a special place for all will be presented with their trophies and given thanks in the Princess Grace Suite at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport town centre on Friday, 28th April 2023.
The unmissable night in the Merseyside events calendar will be presented by actress and radio personality Claire Simmo, and supported by Media Partner In Demand Radio.

All those on the shortlist will be invited to a special celebratory meal in beautiful surroundings while the awards are presented, with a night of entertainment planned.
The first ever Pride Of Sefton Awards are being organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport.
Nominations are still being invited across all 13 categories ahead of the closing date on 6th March 2023.
We are looking for nominations, across Southport, Formby, Crosby, Bootle, Maghull and elsewhere in the borough of Sefton.

I attended Southport College of Art and Technology when it contained a technical high school. I remember with some fondness the parquet floors where we wore indoor shoes to protect the floors, the banister up the main staircase was polished throughout the day by ladies using Brasso polish and soft white cloths, and the walls were pristine as was the main assembly hall where we could attend tutorial after school. Before my long bus ride to Maghull, I did all my homework during tutorial and caught the last bus at 6.40pm (I had a bus pass that had limited times), and I remember standing at the bus stop in winter without a winter coat as it was unthnkable to wear one no matter how cold the weather. This was in the time of Mr. Hodge, Mr. Hatfield, Miss Morrell, et al. The school buildings were looked upon with great pride, and we wore our striped scarves as a badge of honour. Anyone remember the maroon, blue, and white scarf? I still have mine ensconced in cedar to keep moths at bay!
