The owner of The Hart Space in Southport has spoken about the local community’s “overwhelming sense of love, support, and communal grief” following the tragedy in which three young girls were tragically killed here in July.
Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven; Bebe King, aged six, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, aged nine all lost their lives as they attended a Taylor Swift themed dance and yoga class at The Hart Space on 29th July 2024. Several other girls and adults were badly injured and others left traumatised.
A statement from Jenie and The Hart Space said: “I know it may seem strange that nothing has been posted from us in the last few weeks since the truly tragic event happened at The Hart Space on 29th July. Our silence has been to support Merseyside Police with their investigation and to respect everyone involved.
“The events that took place have been devastating for everyone involved. My heart is broken and I know I speak for everyone who hires the space for classes when I say we haven’t stopped thinking about Alice’s, Bebe’s and Elsie’s families and friends, the girls who attended the event, Leanne, Heidi and John, and their families and friends, the emergency services, off duty nurses, paramedics, fire, police, neighbouring businesses, everyone who helped and the wider community.
“Over the last few weeks, I have seen what can only be described as an overwhelming sense of love, support, and communal grief for what has happened.
“We are a strong little community, and I would like to thank everyone for supporting those involved.
“The Hart Space will remain closed to the public until further notice, so Merseyside Police can continue their investigation, and our community can try and heal and to respect those involved. Thank you for all the messages, love, and support over the last few weeks.”
The Hart Space is centred around pregnancy, babies and the community and is about empowering mums and females in general.
Home to many businesses that have been hand-picked, the hub provides a variety of people and services for mums, mums-to-be and children.
Classes cover a wide range of subjects such as hypnobirthing, sensory, massage, dance – including ballet – storytelling, yoga, exercise, relaxation, and crafts.
Support services have held meetings there, such as Southport Ormskirk & Sefton Maternity Voices Partnership and Southport Baby Bank.
