NHS colleagues in the Paediatric Department at Ormskirk Hospital have been honoured for constantly going “above and beyond” to care for young patients as they were presented with the Everyday Excellence Award at the 2023 Time To Shine Awards.
They were among members of staff from Southport and Ormskirk hospitals who were celebrated at the special awards ceremony at Formby Golf Resort and Spa.
All staff in the department embody the Trust’s values each and every day.
Caring for some of the youngest patients, often with complex conditions and needs, they go above and beyond to provide the highest standards of clinical and holistic care in some of the most difficult and challenging situations. They have been hailed as heroes by patients, families and carers.
There were two excellent finalists in this category too.
Emma Houghton is always striving for excellence in the care delivered to our patients with a Learning Disability and / or Autism.
Emma works above and beyond to ensure patients and their carers are always involved and that reasonable adjustments are always made to ensure people receive the care needed with the least anxiety and disruption to their daily routine.
Mikhail Lawler is simply exceptional in all he does while at work in the ED department. Colleagues say he is “a delight to work with”. His can-do attitude and bubbly personality see him constantly aim for excellence and provide wonderful care for patients every day.
Individuals and teams from a wide range of areas were celebrated for their “amazing commitment’’ to providing the best possible care for local patients and their families at the hospitals’ 2023 Time to Shine Awards.
It was hosted by Liverpool radio personality Peter Price while sponsors included Vinci Facilities, Hill Dickinson and Weightmans.
Chief Executive Ann Marr OBE said: I have been highly impressed by all of the inspiring nominations we received from colleagues, patients and members of the public and the message I would like to pass on is that you should never underestimate the difference you make to those around you, each and every day.’’
