A brand new budget retailer has opened in Southport town centre.

Bargain Saver has opened on Eastbank Street, replacing the former Poundland unit which has been empty since the store closed in March 2023.

Bargain Saver is a young, growing company which already has outlets in Accrington, Bolton and Bootle.

The 5,000 sq ft shop offers a variety of goods at competitive prices, including: household, toiletries, health and beauty, confectionery, kitchenware, bedding, stationery, party, toys, tools, electricals, jewellery, vapes and smoking.

The opening of the store has created five new jobs.

Bargain Saver Fazel Rabi said: “This is the fourth shop we have opened and we are really pleased with the positive feedback we have had from shoppers in Southport.

“Bargain Saver is an Aladdin’s Cave of goods that you can find here but not elsewhere. Our stock changes all the time.

“We want to offer a variety of good products at low prices for our customers.

“We have spent the past few weeks getting everything ready, and we are delighted to now be open.

“We have invested heavily into getting the store right, including security, installing 32 CCTV cameras throughout.

“We came to open a store in Southport because of the large footfall in the town centre.

“People in Southport are very friendly, it’s a great place to operate a shop.

“We are so pleased to be here! We have waited two years to secure this building.

“We have had lots of people asking us when we would be opening while work was taking place, and have had lots of positive feedback since we opened. People say they are pleased to see this building open again, and that Southport needs more shops.

“Southport has lost two Poundland shops in recent years.

“We are very different to Poundland, but still want to offer products at competitive prices.

“We are very keen to try and keep our prices as low as we possibly can.

“We have been really busy since we opened and have been enjoying meeting all our new customers here in Southport.”
