Southport Market’s newest food outlet is now officially open after a hugely successful launch night.

Lenny’s Burger and Seafood is already building a reputation for delicious freshly cooked burgers and seafood.

It is owned by successful local business owners Banico and Jodie Zeniou, who also own the award-winning Fylde Fish Bar fish and chip shops, the Pitamu Greek street food venue inside Southport Market and at outdoor events and the pop-up Bar Crumble.

Lenny’s presented 100 burgers for free to local people to celebrate its launch and saw queues of people turn up to enjoy them.

Diners were invited to leave reviews and post pictures of their tasty meals on social media to help spread the word.

The burgers all come from Blackhurst Butchers inside Southport Market while seafood is also sourced locally.

The seafood on offer includes moules mariniere, Thai red curry mussels, and Cajun seafood boil.

There is something for children too with tasty fish goujons.

Invited to cut the ribbon to declare Lenny’s officially open was Richard Moore from local charity Southport Saviours, which is working hard to install defibrillators across Southport.

Richard and his team fundraise to install, maintain, repair and raise awareness of the importance of defibrillators in our town.

Lenny’s Seafood and Burger is dedicated to another local hero – Jodie’s grandfather, Lenny Goldwater, a man whose legacy is as rich in community service as it is in entrepreneurial success.

Lenny’s life was one of notable achievements, from his service in the RAF to his influential role in local politics, and as a business magnate who supplied garments to the NHS and high street brands in the North West.

Jodie Zeniou, following in her grandfather’s footsteps, has ensured that Lenny’s Seafood and Burger embodies the same principles of ambition, integrity, and community involvement that Lenny championed.

She said: “My grandfather was a great inspiration to be ambitious and have high integrity.

“He believed in being involved with the local community, and he always said that family is the core to happiness.

“We have committed to providing only the finest quality at Lenny’s, partnering with Blackhurst Butchers for premium meats.

“We employ 65 people in Southport now. We are very proud of the business that we are building.”

Early visitors to Lenny’s have been giving their seal of approval.

Jodie said: “The feedback so far has been fantastic! People love it.

“We wanted to bring something into Southport Market that was very different to anything else already here, but which also complemented everything else on offer. There is so much choice for people.

“We wanted to offer something new and exciting with our seafood. At the moment we are serving mussels, our Cajun seafood boil and fish goujons for children, which are proving to be really popular.

“Everything we serve is freshly made, using locally sourced ingredients, which is really important to us.

“We are bringing in some specials – we recently did a Reuben Burger, which people loved, so we’ve put it on the menu.

“In the new year we are going to do some customer specials, inviting people to let us know what they’d like to see on our menu.

“We want them to give us their inspiration!”

The launch event couldn’t have gone better.

Jodie said: “The official opening went very well. We cooked and gave away 100 burgers, and people really enjoyed them.

“It was a good test for our kitchen! Word is spreading and Lenny’s has been getting busier and busier week by week.

“We expect to be extremely busy in these weeks leading up to Christmas.

“Southport Market is a great place to be with lots of festive events happening over the next few weeks, such as free festive movies, Santa visits and more.

“Families can come in, enjoy something to eat together, and then make the most of the entertainment on offer. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Lenny’s Seafood and Burger stands as a modern testament to the values of a bygone era, ensuring that everyone not only enjoys a meal but also partakes in a legacy that continues to nurture the community of Southport Market.
